ClioIQ vs Avoma: What's Actually Different?

Both record and transcribe calls. The real difference shows up in how deal risk gets priced, and whether a CRM ships with the platform at all.

Same starting point

Avoma and ClioIQ both open with a genuinely free tier — call recording, transcription, and AI summaries, capped at a modest number of meetings a month, no card required. If all a team needs is a notetaker, the two look nearly identical at this level.

Where deal risk lives

Avoma splits its capability into the meeting layer and two separate add-on modules on top of it — Conversation Intelligence for coaching (call scoring, scorecards, talk-time) and Revenue Intelligence for the deal layer (risk alerts, forecasting, CRM field updates). Both are priced and enabled separately from the core plan. ClioIQ's Deal Risk Scoring is part of the Team plan itself — nothing extra to enable once you're past Starter.

Built-in CRM vs bring-your-own

Avoma doesn't ship a CRM of its own — it integrates bidirectionally with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Copper, Zoho, and Zendesk Sell, logging meetings and summaries into whichever one you already run. ClioIQ ships with its own CRM built in, so a team without Salesforce or HubSpot already in place can run their whole pipeline on ClioIQ from day one — or connect an existing CRM instead, same as Avoma.

Who should actually choose which

If your team already has Conversation and Revenue Intelligence budget approved and an existing CRM the whole org is standardized on, Avoma's modular add-ons can be worth assembling. If you want deal risk scoring included in the base plan and the option to skip a separate CRM purchase entirely, that's the gap ClioIQ is built to close.
